how many basic waveforms are there

There are types three types of wave front

1.spherical wavefront:

When the sources of light is a point source then wavefront produced by them is called spherical wavefront.

2.cylindirical wavefront:

When the source of light is linear in shape then wavefront produced by them is called cylindirical wavefront.

3.plane wavefront:

When the source of light is at very large distance then small part of their wavefront is called plane wavefront.

Cohrent sources

The source of light which emit light wave of the same wavelength, same frequency and same phase or same phase difference is called coherent sources

Non coherent sources

Independent sources of light which emits light wavefront of not constant phase difference is called non coherent sources of light.

Scattering:

When a beam of light passed through a medium containing particles whose size is of the order of wave length of the light then the beam of light get scatterted i.e change of direction this phenomenon is called scattering of light. Most of the beautiful phenomenon like blue sky, white colour of cloud, red house of sun rise and sunset etc. Occurs due to scattering of light.
