1.positive charge is the source of electric field lines and negative charge is the sink of electric field lines.
2.no of field lines starting from +ve charge and terminating at _ve charge is proportional to the amount of charge.
3.electric field lines is an open curve bit magnetic field lines is a close curve.
4.no of field lines /area is proportional to the strength of the electric field.
5.two electric field lines never intersect each other.
6.A tangent drawn at the point on electric field lines gives the direction of electric.
6.Electric field lines are normal to the surface of conductor

An electrified line are normal to the surface curve because it is the path of the force experience by a test charge which experience a continuous force.It cannot have a sudden break because a moving test charge never jump  from one position to other

It possible then letus suppose that two electric field lines intersect each other point now if we draw a tengent at this point then we get two direction of electric field.when a test charge is placed at this point , they will move along two different path and this is not possible so our supposition beacme wrong i.e two electric field lines never intersect each other point
